What should you send a political poster designer in Kenya?

A short, complete brief can prevent several rounds of missing files and corrections. It also gives the designer enough information to quote the work properly.

THE SHORT ANSWER

Send the approved text, original authorised photographs, logo files, required print and digital sizes, deadline and the name of the person who will approve the artwork. Say how many original designs and adaptations you need. Share sensitive records only through handling arrangements agreed directly with Sage; an initial enquiry does not need internal plans or private personal data.

Put the approved wording in one document

Provide the text exactly as it should appear, including spelling, titles, dates and contact details where relevant. Identify anything that still needs approval. If several people are contributing, nominate one person to consolidate their comments before the file reaches the designer.

The designer can organise the approved material into a readable layout. That does not establish the accuracy of supplied claims or grant permission to publish them. Your authorised content owner should approve the words and identities before production. Editing or research is a separate part of the scope when required.

Send corrections as text rather than asking someone to reconstruct a sentence from a blurry screenshot. Keep the latest approved copy in one place so an older message does not accidentally become the final version.

Supply original photographs and permitted logos

Use the original portrait file, not a cropped screenshot of another poster. Explain which image is approved, whether any adjustment is allowed and who supplied it. The design brief should not assume that an image found online is available for reuse.

Provide the correct authorised logo and any written brand rules. If you only have a small image, say so at the quotation stage. Rebuilding an asset and checking its use can require more work than placing a supplied file.

Keep each asset clearly named. A folder containing five nearly identical portraits without instructions invites an avoidable mistake. Mark the approved selection and retain the source for any later print-quality check.

List the deliverables separately

  • The number of original poster layouts.
  • Each print size and any printer-supplied requirements.
  • Each digital placement and the adaptation required for it.
  • Any related brochure, publication or presentation.
  • The required final files and whether editable handover is needed.

“Everything for the campaign” is not a usable production scope. A single poster, a repeated series and a full publication set have different review and delivery needs. Start with the items you need now and agree later additions before they are made.

For print preparation, ask the supplier about bleed and export settings. Adobe’s bleed guide explains why artwork may extend beyond the trim edge; the printer should provide the specification for the actual job.

Agree who approves the proof and when

Give the date you need the approved final files, then allow time for content review and any printer checks. A delivery date is confirmed after the designer has reviewed the brief and capacity. Do not treat a general response-time message as a production guarantee.

Collect feedback in one round where possible. Label comments as wording corrections, factual corrections or layout requests so the designer can handle them accurately. Check the full export, not just a thumbnail in a message.

Before approving, read all supplied details, check image choices and open any links. Keep a dated record of the exact approved file. If a later change affects both print and digital outputs, identify every version that needs replacing.

Keep private source material out of the public example

An initial enquiry can simply describe the type of material, approximate size and deadline. It does not need confidential plans, identity documents, contact databases or private correspondence. Discuss suitable transfer and access arrangements before sending sensitive records.

Sage safeguards company and private content shared for production under its Privacy Policy. Commissioning a design does not grant permission to publish your name, portrait, working files or internal documents in a portfolio. Public display requires separate written permission.

Our website uses labelled concepts where client work cannot be shown. They explain the production format without revealing a confidential engagement. Ask about the process directly if you need to understand how an equivalent file set will be prepared.

A simple way to start from anywhere in Kenya

Write: “I need [materials] in [formats], using approved text and images. My deadline is [date]. Please confirm the design scope and quote.” Add any existing printer specification. This is enough to begin an enquiry without completing a long payment procedure.

Sage works online with clients in Nairobi and across Kenya. We confirm the scope, price and delivery date with you. Printing, distribution and paid advertising are separate unless expressly agreed.

For a quotation, use Sage’s political campaign poster design service in Nairobi and Kenya. Start with the materials, quantities of designs and deadline. An enquiry is free; the scope and final price are agreed before work begins.

A few more questions

Can I ask for a quotation before I have every file?

Yes. Describe what is available and what is missing. The final scope and delivery date can then account for content or asset preparation.

Will you show my project to another client?

Sage does not share private client files as samples without permission. We use approved public work or clearly labelled concepts.

Do editable files come with every poster?

Editable handover and any asset licences must be specified in your quotation. A PDF or JPG delivery does not automatically include an editable source file.
